Explanation

In general, the spacing of symbols follows print. If the symbol is being used as a sign of operation or comparison, spacing should be consistent with signs of operation and comparison. If a symbol also has a grade 2 meaning, a grade 1 indicator may be needed. Additional miscellaneous symbols will be introduced in later lessons and a greater listing can be found in the Guidelines for Technical Materials, §11.
